Shade's Story
Shade has emerged from the shadows!

Shade’s life has changed a lot since spending most of it as a colony cat! After his loving colony owner passed away, leaving him and his siblings in a precarious position at the start of winter, EHS stepped in to help since their only known means of sustenance and care was gone. Now, this gentle fellow is safe and warm and on a journey to a loving home.

ABOUT SHADE
- In foster
- Shade is very gentle.
- After getting more comfortable in his foster home, Shade has come out the “darkness” of his safe spaces (a cubby or the base of a cat tree) to bravely explore more of the home, and each day he moves a little closer to his foster parent.
- He’s also starting to chat a little with his foster parent, using the cutest little meow.
- He enjoys sitting on a window ledge to watch the world outside and lounging on the bed.
- Shade also loves receiving affection with a back-scratcher.
- He enjoys the company of other cats. Shade LOVES the resident cat in his foster home—following him around, parking beside him, or gently approaching to make friends. Shade will even let his new buddy “steal” his tube treats. You’ll also often see Shade in the company of his colony friend, Nelly.
- While he gets bolder every day, he is still a shy cat around humans and so may still greet a stranger with a hiss to protect his space.
- Shade is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.

SHADE'S IDEAL HOME
- Shade is looking for a home with another feline-friendly cat for companionship (Maybe Nelly?).
- Shade is on a prescription diet due to a sensitive tummy.
- A skittish cat will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.
- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Shade settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Shade with a successful transition to his forever home.

Shade deserves the sun and the moon! If Shade is the guy for you, reach out to EHS today!

If you have any questions about Shade or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com
