Seymour's Story

Hi! My name is Seymour and here is a little more about me :

My Journey
I’ve already lived a big life for a little guy. I was found with severe injuries to my back legs and hips and brought to a shelter in Orange County. It’s believed I was hit by a car, and because my injuries were so serious, I was placed on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, Smittens Rescue stepped in and gave me a second chance.
I went through major surgery to restore function to my back legs and hips. When one leg didn’t recover, even after a second six-hour surgery, it had to be amputated. Since then, I’ve shown just how resilient I am. I run, climb, play, and fully enjoy life on three legs.

My Social Life
Other cats ? Because I’m so active, I’d do best with a playful feline friend who enjoys rough-and-tumble play.
Dogs ? I haven’t had much experience with dogs yet, so I’m not sure how I feel about canine friends. With slow, thoughtful introductions, I may do just fine.
Kids ? Can be mouthy during play when overstimulated. A home without young children would be ideal, especially since I don't enjoy unexpected touching.

My Personality
I’m energetic, curious, and very people-oriented. I communicate clearly and prefer initiating affection on my own terms. As I settle into a safe environment, this has already improved and continues to get better with time. I let you know when I'm not in the mood for petting—especially around my amputation site, which remains a sensitive area—and does best when my cues are respected.

I Enjoy
Interactive play —wand toys, ambush games, and anything I can chase and pounce on.
Catnip and will happily play for 20–30 minutes at a time
Gentle petting on the top of my head and under my chin.
Churu squeeze treats and Fancy Feast Purely Natural Hand-Selected Chicken treats - yes, that's specific !
Toys over hands (kicker toys are a big hit!), which helps me channel my energy in a fun and appropriate way.

I’m Not a Fan Of
Seafood flavors aren’t my thing.
Wet food. Dry food is my preference.

What Makes Me Special
I’m a proud tripod! I get around confidently on three legs and don’t let it slow me down. I also have subtle black striping hidden within my dark grey (blue) coat, which makes me extra handsome.

My Perfect Home
I have a high energy level and would thrive in a home with a playful cat companion who can keep up with me.
I would thrive in a calm, cat-savvy home where people understand feline body language and give me space when I asks for it.
I can’t jump quite as high as a four-legged cat, but I run, climb, and explore very well—which also means I’m less likely to leap straight onto counters. I’m currently living in a multi-cat foster home and continuing to learn and grow every day.
I’m a resilient, affectionate little survivor looking for a forever family who will embrace my energy, personality, and big heart.
