Serena's Story

Meet Serena......a very sweet, shy brown and gold tabby who along with her housemates were dumped to the curb after their owner was evicted. We think they all suffered some neglect prior to the eviction. Serena's housemates have all been adopted and she is patiently waiting her turn.

Serena has had multiple moves and for a shy cat that's hard. She went from her previous owner to a temporary shelter to Second Chance, two fosters, and now back to Second Chance. None of the moves were related to Serena as she is gentle and a good houseguest. She takes a bit to acclimate, but once she does she loves pets, will lay next to you, and her playful side appears. She is a cat who needs to trust first but with her multiple moves and having to adjust multiple times she will need a patient adopter.

At the shelter, she is often found in a cubby and may appear like she doesn't want attention but that is untrue. Gently lean in and she is all yours for the petting. She just wants a home, one where she will find stability and reassurance. Who doesn't want that?

According to one of Serena's former foster Moms "Serena is a sweet little kitty who loves to have her head scratched. A little shy at first, she warms up quickly with soft talk and gentle praise. Serena loves her toys, especially a ping pong ball. She would thrive in a quiet home where she can be the queen".

Serena is ready to blossom in the right home with an adopter who will initially give her a small space to feel comfortable and then will give her daily praise and pets. Serena is such a nice girl. We know the shyer kitties are often overlooked however with Serena if you give her a chance you will be well rewarded with affection and love.

Serena would do best in a quieter, routine home, likely with a single person or couple. Serena could easily be part of a home with a friendly laid back cat even though she'd relish being an only kitty.

Serena has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Serena has an approximate birthdate of 10/03/2021. Her adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Serena or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.
