Selena's Story

Selena is an adorable, chatty little girl and we are so obsessed with her. She is sweet and loving, she adores being pet and getting her chin or back scratched. She will lick and bite your face while you hold her and just can't get close enough. She has the cutest little meow and isn't shy about letting us know when she wants attention. Of course, she loves to play and is full of fun kitten energy.

Selena does have one kind of wonky eye. When she saw the eye doctor, they determined that she has feline viral rhinotracheitis, also known as feline herpesvirus. It does not require any medication, but should be monitored. Because FVR can be contagious during flare-ups, Selena may be best as the only cat or with another FVR kitty. Staff are happy to chat with potential adopters in more detail and suggest consulting with your vet.

Selena does also have a heart murmur and a congenital heart defect. She had an echocardiogram and they determined that she does not need any medication at this time and they do not expect this to affect her life, but it should be monitored. They do recommend repeating the echo in 6-12 months.

Selena is estimated to be about 6 months old and up-to-date on vaccines. She is scheduled to be spayed 3/10 and will be available after she recovers.

Please contact staff at (401) 294-2754 or email animalshelter@exeterri.gov for more information on our adoption process. Please do NOT apply through Petfinder.
