Meet SEBASTIAN

SEBASTIAN is a 3 year old domestic short hair taken in as a lost, injured cat on 9/21/23. At intake, his neck was shaved and he had a sore in the same area that has healed. Sebastian's laid back and distinguished. He settled in comfortably, as if he'd always lived here. Sebastian adores being held close to your chest, loves being petted, especially between his shoulders, and has a good purr. He's solidly built, but is a softie at heart. He's great at interacting, is a greeter and would love to have someone to tease him with some string. Sebastian is FIV positive and will need to be an indoor only kitty living with other FIV+ cats. His adoption fee has been sponsored for an adopter who can meet his need to be an indoor only cat living with other FIV+ kitties and with a pre-approved adoption application. Sebastian is neutered, current on shots, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped. Adopted on 5/3/24, he was returned on 6/8/24. It wasn't a good fit.

We share the following information, not to scare off adopters, only to help educate so that one knows what to expect with FIV. There are no specific symptoms of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). FIV+ cats have a weaker immune system, so they're more prone to getting infections like upper respiratory infection, ringworm and dental disease. There are no proven treatments for FIV. Most FIV+ cats handle the disease well, but it's important to focus on treating secondary illnesses. To help reduce exposure to secondary illnesses, FIV+ cats should be indoor only. Cats with FIV tend to have normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues. If they’re well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets. FIV+ cats should live with other FIV+ cats or be the only cat. FIV is not transmissible to dogs or humans. Hoping this helps someone open their ? to an FIV+ cat.
