Sean and Ivan's Story

Sean & Ivan are two best friends looking for a forever home together, and if you're looking for a pair of oversized lap cats, these boys are ready to make themselves comfortable.

These brothers came into our care at just 7 weeks old with their mama, Mia, after being found living in a shed. Since then, they've been discovering just how wonderful life indoors can be, and they've come a long way.

Sean and Ivan can be a little shy when you first meet them, but don't let those first few hours fool you. Give them some time to settle in and get comfortable, and you'll see a whole different side of these boys. Once they realize you're safe, they're all about snuggles, playtime, pets, and hanging out with their favorite people. Ivan especially loves to purr, and he's more than happy to let you know when he's enjoying himself.

They're curious, playful, and love exploring their world together. Chasing toys, wrestling, investigating whatever has caught their attention, and then inevitably turning into a pair of cuddlebugs are all part of their routine. And when we say lap cats, we mean HUGE lap cats. These boys aren't interested in keeping their affection at a reasonable distance.

Ivan is the more confident brother, often leading the way and checking things out first. Sean likes to look to Ivan for reassurance, making sure everything is safe before he joins in. Having his brother beside him helps Sean feel more comfortable, and their bond is a big part of what makes them such a special pair.

These two would do best with a family who understands that trust takes a little time. They may not be the cats who immediately climb into a stranger's lap, but spend a few hours hanging out with them, and you may find yourself wondering how you ever managed without two furry shadows following you around. A little patience goes a long way with these boys, and the affection they give in return is absolutely worth it.

Despurate House Cats's Adoption Policy
The application process for adopting from our cat rescue includes several important steps: Application Form on Website: You must fill out an application form available on the rescue's website. This form will ask for your personal details, your home environment, and other relevant information about your lifestyle and preferences to help match you with a suitable cat. Vet Reference: You are required to provide a reference from your veterinarian. This helps the rescue ensure you have a history of responsible pet ownership and good veterinary care for your previous or current pets. Landlord Reference (if leasing): If you rent your home, you will need to provide a reference from your landlord. This confirms that you have permission to have a cat in your rental property and ensures that the living conditions are suitable for adopting a pet. Home Visit: As part of the adoption process, a home visit will be conducted. A representative from the rescue will visit your home to ensure it’s a safe and appropriate environment for a cat. This visit will also include meeting your current pets to assess if they will get along with the new cat. The rescue wants to ensure that the new addition to your family will be compatible with your existing pets and that everyone will feel comfortable and safe. Once all these steps are completed and reviewed, the rescue will make a decision about your application.
