Scout's Story

Once upon a Saturday morning, a scrappy little alley cat named Scout showed up outside a window — and decided, right then and there, that stray life just wasn’t for her anymore.

When her foster family cracked open the door to whisk her to safety, Scout didn’t need convincing. She strutted right in like she owned the place — followed by the biggest wave of purrs, chirps, and nuzzles anyone was expecting from a former stray. Turns out, this girl had a LOT of love bottled up and ready to share.

These days, Scout is a total spitfire — confident, sassy, and full of personality. She’ll snuggle up for cuddles (on her schedule, thank you very much), then bounce off to chase toys, explore every corner of the house, and supervise her resident cat roommates like a tiny furry manager. She’s got boundaries, and she respects yours too — pretty impressive for a kitten!

Her favorite things? Sunbeams by the window, wet food, and burrowing into a cozy bed with her favorite humans. She’s not exactly a lap cat... but give her time to wear herself out, and don’t be shocked if she flops down right next to you anyway.

https://www.familiarhearts.org/adoptable-pets

Familiar Hearts Animal Society's Adoption Policy
We always have potential adopters fill out our adoption application first so we can first vet them and make sure we approve of them as adopters before then inviting them to meet the animal(s) they are interested in. We feel this not only saves time for our fosters, it helps us get to know the applicant better and better be able to match them with the potential pet that is best for them. We always make sure everyone has a lot of time to deeply consider the adoption before finalizing it. The adoption is considered finalized after the adoption contract is reviewed and signed and the fee is paid. We then tranfer all the vet records and microchip information to the new family. We also offer behavioral support before and after adoption and one free training session with our dog trainer for dog adopters.
