Scotty 's Story

Meet Scotty – Your Future Best Friend (With a Slow Start)

Scotty isn’t the kind of cat who falls in love on the first date.

When you come to meet him at the shelter, you’ll probably only see a pair of cautious eyes peeking out from a hiding spot. He doesn’t rush up to strangers. He doesn’t put on a show. If he doesn’t know you, he keeps his distance — because Scotty is scared of the unfamiliar.

But here’s the part you won’t see right away.

Once Scotty decides you’re *his person*, everything changes.

He will greet you when you walk into the room. He will happily hop into your lap. He’ll rub against you, purr like a little engine, and make the sweetest muffins for as long as you’ll let him. When Scotty loves you, he LOVES you. Fully. Completely. Devotedly.

He just needs time.

Food helps. Routine helps. Gentle, consistent love helps most of all. Scotty blossoms in predictability and patience. The shelter isn’t where he shines — it’s where he survives. His true personality only comes out when he feels safe.

Scotty also loves other cats and would do best in a home with feline friends to help him feel secure and confident. He is FIV+, which simply means he can live a long, happy life indoors with routine vet care — and he can absolutely live safely with other cats.

So if you come to meet him and he stays tucked away, please don’t mistake that for disinterest. He isn’t rejecting you. He just hasn’t learned you yet.

Scotty is looking for someone willing to invest a little time for a whole lot of love in return. Someone who understands that the best friendships aren’t rushed — they’re built.

Trust us on this one. Scotty is worth it.

Fill out an application for him here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FMAS/Cat

If you are interested in meeting Scotty in person, the shelter has visiting hours on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until 4 pm.
