Scholar's Story

If you've been searching for a cat with charm, character and just a touch of academic flair, allow us to introduce Scholar. She's a young tuxedo girl whose unique facial marking gives her the unforgettable look of sporting a classic handlebar mustache! Yes, you read that right. This delightful girl looks like she's ready to defend her thesis and ask for a spot of tea!

Her Story
Scholar came to us through a wonderful local grassroots cat rescue organization. She had been living outdoors as part of a large colony of over 50 cats and likely spent her whole life outside until she was safely secured. Despite that challenging beginning, once she was brought indoors and given a chance to exhale, her personality blossomed.

To everyone's surprise and joy, Scholar turned out to be remarkably friendly. She genuinely enjoys human company, leans in for affection and absolutely melts when she can snuggle up to someone who's willing to shower her with gentle attention. Now she's with us, safe, warm and ready for the next chapter which includes a forever home of her own.

A Mustache With Meaning
The handlebar mustache has a long, quirky history. It's been worn by artists, philosophers, inventors, and dignified thinkers throughout the ages. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it became a symbol of confidence, intellect and a bit of dashing flair.

So what better name than Scholar for a cat who seems to be wearing her own whiskered salute to the great thinkers? Her distinguished "mustache" gives her a wise, worldly air even when she's batting at toys or purring contentedly in your lap.

What She's Looking For
* A cozy indoor life where she never has to face the dangers of outdoor living again
* A loving family who appreciates her sweet, social personality
* Someone who will take pride in living with a cat who looks like she stepped straight out of a Victorian study portrait

She's ready to leave the streets and the enormous colony she came from behind. In return, she'll offer companionship, warmth and the joy of having a cat who's as visually charming as she is affectionate.

If you're looking for a cat with both heart and unmistakable style, Scholar is waiting to meet you. Let her trade her outdoor survival story for a life full of safety, comfort and the love of a family that she truly deserves.

The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. If you are not available during those times, special arrangements for a meet and greet may be able to be arranged by emailing arfcats@bereaanimalrescue.com. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!
