Scarlett's Story
This is Scarlet. She is 5 years old. Her owner went through some life changes and could not keep her anymore. She is a very sweet and cuddly cat. But she is also a very shy and nervous cat. She needs to be in a calm home environment. She gets along fine with all adults. She also doesn't mind kids who can be gentle with her. I would recommend ages 8 and up. She is very protective of her space and does not get along well with other animals. She has gotten along fine with a calm younger cat or small kitten who is more on the calm side. As long as she has her own space she can go to when she wants to get away.

She is used to sleeping in a closed bedroom at night with her food water and litter in the same room. Usually around 9:30-10pm she will go to her bed or her preferred sleeping area and she will go to sleep. She sleeps pretty much all night until about 6:30-7 am and the. She will wake up for food and cuddles.
Scarlet is very good at eating all her food or most of it.
She might graze once or twice a through the day. But she does not over eat. She prefers tall bowls, not the ones low to the ground. Her day is mostly sleeping, cuddling when she wants to and playing a bit. She is a very calm and gentle cat.

She loves to be brushed, but gently. She loves to have a cat tree or cat scratchers. She loves to find dark hiding spots to sleep. So don't panic if you can't find her. She also is used to going out in a screened in porch. And she loves sitting in an open window to get fresh air. I would not recommend harness walking or letting her outside. She is too fearful of all things that move and make noise and would probably be scared and/or run away.

Some tips to know about her. She does NOT like her nails being clipped. You will have to hold her down good for that one if you ever need to do it. She does NOT like to be picked up or have rough play. Letting her come to you or her smell you before you start petting her will help build trust in the beginning.

Thank you for considering to adopt her. She is the sweetest cat. So gently, calm, and cuddly. She will make you very happy.
She is used to eating healthy and natural cat food brands. For the past year she has been eating Blue Buffalo Chicken Indoor Cat Food. But I know you may want to buy something different. I would recommend trying the following as they are things she has eaten in the past. I will say she doesn't not like whitefish, beef, pork, or any other odd seafood blend. She likes chicken, salmon, and tuna. We haven't tried any other foods with her. If you do try to switch her food. Make sure to switch it gradually over a week or two. By mixing them together. So she can get used to it.

Switching cats fast can cause stomach issues such as gas and diarrhea. We don't want that.

DRY FOOD

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/
petcostore/product/blue-buffalo-wilderness-indoor-chicken-adult-dry-cat-food

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/ wholehearted-grain-free-salmon-formula-dry-cat-food

WET FOOD:

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/ wholehearted-all-life-stages-canned-cat-food---grain-free-tuna-recipe-flaked-in-gravy

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/ wholehearted-all-life-stages-canned-cat-food---grain-free-chicken-and-tuna-recipe-flaked-in-gravy

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/
petcostore/product/applaws-limited-ingredient-tuna-and-salmon-in-broth-canned-wet-cat-food

https://www.petco.com/shop/en/
petcostore/product/applaws-pot-surf-n-turf-gravy-wet-cat-food-variety-pack

If you are interested in adopting this kitty please email us at dakotas.dream@hotmail.com.
Dakota's Dream is a small nonprofit rescue group.
