Sawyer's Story

Say hello to Sawyer! (affectionately known as Soybean aka. 'Beans'). This magnificent boy is looking for a calm and comfy forever home to call his own. Despite his large stature, he has a huge heart and is ready to find a human he can be best friends with.

Though he's a sweet and loyal companion, there's no sugarcoating his journey; Sawyer was dealt a tough hand before he was rescued. A kind-hearted volunteer spotted a withering Sawyer clinging to life on the side of a South Philly street where he was believed to have been abandoned. He was dehydrated, lethargic, his coat was in shambles, and he had caustic burns over most of his body. A handful of caring humans got him the care and attention he needed. Fast forward one year and he's absolutely bloomed back to life. His meow is back, his floof is back, and his personality has re-emerged!

He currently lives in a house with two other cats and a small dog. He's been given opportunities to interact and mingle but has shown that he's not looking for animal companionship at this point in his journey. We believe he would best thrive in a home without other animals or young humans. Sawyer needs a human who will show him respect and give plenty of loves (he deserves all of them).

Despite great strides in his physical recovery, Sawyer still harbors his past trauma on the inside. He's good about giving cues for when it's time to leave him alone but can be reactive if startled or overstimulated. Beneath the past trauma, though, is a sweet lap-cat who isn't afraid to show his affection to a human he trusts. His current foster parents are proof that he has nothing but love to give if he's shown empathy, respect and love in turn. We believe that his forever home and his forever human are out there, just waiting to be connected. A bond with this sweet Bean will surely be a bond that lasts forever.

Oh, and his feets have the appearance of one ankle-sock and one crew-sock. Once you see it you'll never be able to unsee the cuteness.
