Sassie Bassie's Story

***With a Possible Wildcat Gene, she's Ready to be your Dog-Like Queen!!***

Sassie Bassie is a spirited, adaptable, dog-like, and resilient cat with a unique "bobtail" that is about 1/3 the length of an average cat's tail. Although Bassie isn't a pedigree with papers, she clearly has either an American Bobtail or Manx in her DNA. Judging from the traits of each breed, we believe she matches with an American Bobtail, largely due to her highly talkative nature!

The American Bobtail breed began in the 1960s from a stray bobtail cat found on a Native American reservation. With selective breeding, this breed became known as the Golden Retriever of the cat world, often following their human around.

Although Bassie is an indoor only cat, her perceived breed is highly trainable which suggests she could be the right fit for someone who enjoys traveling with their cat in an RV, boat, or leash walking. That breed is also without any specific health issues - which removes the worry of predisposed health conditions due to pedigree breeding. The gene that gives them their signature short tail is recessive, making every American Bobtail a bit of a genetic lottery winner!!

Bassie is currently fostered with multiple other felines. Although she gets along with other felines, she is not happy in a crowded feline environment. She may do better as an only cat, with one (or two) other non-sassy cats, a calmer dog, and possibly no young children. Her ideal home would let her be the center of attention!

Bassie has faced challenges, including the loss of her litter, but remains curious, playful, and VERY talkative to get your attention! She enjoys head pets but appears a little sensitive about her back and currently prefers not to be picked up.

Why Adopt Sassie Bassie?
- A rare breed of feline.
- Very unique personality and look.
- Brings joy, faithful companionship, and a touch of wild sass!

A patient human who can build trust is ideal. If you're ready to give Sassie Bassie the loving home she deserves, please contact us and let's make her next chapter her best one yet!
