Sandy's Story
Meet Sandy! The sweet little girl has a real rags to riches story. She was taken from her mom far too young and grew up in tough conditions, no litter box, no toys, people coming in and out doing illicit activities and even sharing space with a poor little squirrel (hence her name, inspired by Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob). She bounced around a few places before finally landing with us, where she went to the vet for the very first time in her life.

Now, she's totally thriving! She's super sweet, ridiculously cute, and full of playful kitten antics. She may need a little time warming up to new feline friends since she didn't grow up knowing what another cat even was. Sandy met Luther at Petco and she is one of the very few cats who can tolerate Sandy's... let's say... "unrefined social skills."

Yes, it may sound like Sandy is committing a felony when they play. But her dramatic opera-singer vocalizations are really just a side effect of never learning "normal cat" behavior. Luther gets it - she doesn't overreact, doesn't take it personally, and seems to understand that Sandy's verbal hysterics come from a place of pure chaos, not malice.

Sandy and Luther may not be bonded, but they really do make quite the pair. Luther would love to be adopted with Sandy, or to a home with another young cat.

Sandy is about 6 months old, spayed, vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and tested FIV/FeLV negative. She is available at the Waterfront (Homestead) Petco Adoption Center.
