Sammy Q's Story
Sammy Q is a shy, tender-hearted cat who is finally starting to come out of his shell.

He is looking for a very special person — someone calm, kind, and patient enough to let him keep blossoming in his own time.

Sammy Q was one of 14 cats who suddenly lost their owner in July 2023, leaving a huge void in his life. Sammy Q and the others were rescued as kittens by a quirky but special man known throughout Jefferson County as “Coach.” He spent his life rescuing cats and lovingly referred to them as his “children.”

After losing Coach, Sammy Q quietly withdrew from the world around him. For years, he spent most of his time hiding away, watching from a distance and rarely interacting.

But recently, after gentle, quiet time with a volunteer who expected nothing from him, Sammy Q began taking small steps forward on his own. He started coming out to observe the room, making biscuits from a safe distance, cautiously asking for pets, and slowly showing that underneath the fear is a cat who still truly wants connection.

Sammy Q is currently living in a foster room with around 15 other cats, which can be overwhelming for a shy cat still learning to feel safe again. We truly believe he would benefit from a calmer environment where he can continue to blossom at his own pace.

Sammy Q does not need a perfect home. He simply needs someone willing to give him patience, kindness, and the chance to trust again.

If you have a quiet home and would be interested in fostering or adopting Sammy Q, we would love to talk with you.

Maybe you are the person he has been waiting for.

All cats adopted through To The ResQ have been examined by a vet, are spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, microchipped with free transfer registration, combo-tested, and dewormed.

If you have any questions about Sammy Q, please contact us at ttr.adopt@gmail.com.
