SAMMY's Story
Happy Fall! The calendar might say we are in the "ber" months, but the temperatures are still warm! That means we are still struggling through kitten season. We desperately need to make room to get Moms, kittens and other cats in and fixed before the cold comes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! We still have lots of kittens and some of our older cats have been here awhile, so there is a cat for everyone!! Remember,
adopting saves TWO cats lives! Adopting one cat will free up a cage so we can help another. Together we can make countless more cats & kittens lives better. Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

This is Sammy!
Sammy is domestic short haired black & white spayed female, up to date on her shots, around 3 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland Northwest Indiana.

Ummm yeah, My name is Sammy. Ummm, I don't know what else to say because I'm a little scared, yeah. I'm going to let the person from the shelter tell you about me because I don't know what to say. Thank you!
Okay Sammy, you did a good job baby! Poor Sammy, she's been waiting over 365 days for a home!
If you've ever had a very introverted friend (or are yourself) you should be able to know how Sammy feels and bond well with her. Sammy has been waiting for a home for awhile because she is really shy. We couldn't even get a really good picture of her because she doesn't like to leave her safe space...her cage. She can't go to adoption events because he would just hide under he bed, rug or anything because she is so stressed. Sammy was caught outside by a local business who wanted to help her and a friend she came in with, Teal (you can see Teals profile too here too).
Sammy is NOT feral, she has never been mean just scared. Sometimes the shelter isn't an ideal place for a shy cat, they never get to come out of their shells because there is so much going on. Sammy loves pets though and leans into pets and he eyes just beg for more. She purrs, meows and plays with toys but only in her safe space.. her cage. Even though we leave he door open, she doesn't like leaving her cage at the shelter but plays by herself when all the other kitties are out playing. She gets better everyday, but we really feel she needs to get out of the shelter and into her forever home so she can bond with a person or family.
We rarely know the stories of the kitties that come from outside but most are dumped pets that shut down from the trauma of losing their homes and being forced to fend for themselves outside. Poor Sammy is probably one of these kitties and is just really scared and needs a loving person (or people) and a quiet home to help her feel safe. Please consider being Sammy's hero!

If you're interested in giving a shy cat that needs some love please give Sammy the chance to be a happy kitty. She deserves it! She is extremely sweet and calm and we are sure when she gets a home, she will probably be the best kitty ever! You would be helping a kitty that REALLY needs some extra help! We can give you lots of tips and tricks to help you build a relationship with this sweet girl!
Please make an appointment to come and meet Sammy at the shelter! Sammy has her own "room" there and you can visit her!
Sammy definitely needs a more outgoing kitty sibling, so if you have another kitty that would be the best for Sammy. Your kitty would show Sammy she is safe in her new home. We are hoping once Sammy is in a quiet home, he will blossom into the kitty she wants to be. Sammy would probably do best in a quiet home with adults and no dogs.
If you're looking to save a kitty that deserves a chance at a real life, Sammy is waiting for you to take her home.
Make an appointment to meet her! Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to meet Sammy or with any questions you might have. Also, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder
****************************************
Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't give a chance, a helping hand at getting a forever home. Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. We are always here to help with any questions Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner or are willing to provide patience and good forever home.
Thank you!
