Sammie's Story

Beautiful SAMMIE arrived safely in NYC from Cairo on June 24, 2024. SAMMIE was very fortunate to have flown In Cabin, thanks to Dr. Vicki of the American Cairo Animal Rescue Fund who offered to be Sammie's travel buddy so kitty would not have to fly cargo. We couldn't put this sweet, gorgeous girl at risk by making her travel in cargo! No we could not!

SAMMIE had suffered a severe injury to her neck when rescued in April from the streets of Cairo. SAMMIE spent more than two months in a clinic until it was time for her flight. Her wound is vastly improved (last photo) but there is a way to go. By comparison, the next to last photo was taken a month after rescue. She currently is under the care of Dr. Caitlin Hummel at City Vet in NYC.

Despite cruelty earlier on, SAMMIE is super friendly and affectionate. Within minutes of arriving at her Queens, New York foster home, SAMMIE was purring a storm, head-butting Odette's arms and hands, talking non-stop and taking over the bed, as if that had been her favorite spot forever.

Sammie is current in vaccinations, FeLV negative, FIV positive (but will be retested in 6 weeks,) healthy, and microchipped. She will be spayed as soon as her neck is completely healed.

SAMMIE is highly adoptable and we would be very surprised if foster mom Odette doesn't decide to adopt her. Meanwhile, applicants may reach out to us here on Petfinder or email placeforcatsinc@verizon.net for more information.

While we are eager to engage all applicants, we do require a completed application prior to scheduling a meet-and-greet in the foster home. Place For Cats' application can be found here: https://placeforcats.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/PFC-Adoption-Application.pdf

Our kitties are spayed/neutered, FeLV/FIV tested, current in vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption. There is a $175 adoption fee and a home visit is required.
