Samantha's Story

Samantha needs a home! This poor girl was brought to the east valley shelter on June 27, 2025, as a stray. The person who turned her in was feeding her outside as a community cat. She said Samantha didn't eat for 7 days! Life on the streets is no place for a cat! She is estimated to be 12 year old; that's pretty good for a street cat! At the shelter she only likes salmon sheba food. The shelter put out an alert for her at the end of July. We said if no other rescue took her, we would. No other rescue stepped up to help her. She lucked out and we rescued her on August 5, 2025. After a day or two of settling in, Samantha ate everything we put in front of her! Her bloodwork came back better than it was at the shelter. There is nothing medically wrong with this cat now. Perhaps, she just wanted off the streets and a hunger strike was the way to go! She loves attention and purrs the moment you start petting her. She purrs non-stop making it difficult to believe she was actually an unsocial outside cat. She may have lived outside, but she was social! We would love to find her a forever home so we will have the space to save another deadline or hospice cat from the shelter!
