Salty's Story
Hi, I’m Salty.

My story is a story of a hard past- a complete transformation… so read all about me to learn of my amazing progress.

I’m not sure how to begin — humans used to scare me a little. Maybe it’s because I was alone for so long, trying to protect my two tiny babies in a cold, dark garage. I was just a baby myself — barely a year old — and already a mama, doing my best to keep us safe.
When people finally found me, I hissed. I did for a while…. Not because i was mean, but because I’ve only ever known fear. The world had been a loud, unfamiliar place full of hands I didn’t understand and sounds I didn’t trust. But even then... I didn’t run. I stayed, because somewhere deep down, I want to believe in kindness. I want to believe in you.

I’m a petite little tuxedo girl — small, pretty, with wide eyes that are always watching. I’m only a couple years old and very beautiful- looks like my toenails have been done!

Now guess what- everything has changed!! I got put in a foster home with a patient kind woman and her friendly cat and now I’ve finally learned to trust and blossom and accept with a full a loving heart- petting and love and …boy does it feel good to finally give into this. I mean I LOVE it- I make air biscuits- kinda like marching air biscuits - it’s super cute…and I flirt with the other cat- the kinda plop down roll over and show my belly kinda flirt!! It’s been amazing- everything loving and sweet is now open to me and it feels wonderful!! I can’t believe it took me this long to accept this wonderful feeling!!

I also love toys and the red light- I chase it and go crazy- it’s so much fun! I never knew how fun playing could be- it’s awesome!! I would love a home with toys and that fun red light thing!

Now that I’ve come so far - I really want a wonderful forever and patient and loving home for myself! . A quiet calm home and I’d really love another friendly cat to hang out with and love and play with. I want to continue to trust and love- knowing I’m safe and touched with kindness, not caution. To fall asleep without keeping one eye open. To purr — and to love and be loved!

This is all new so just be aware I have taken a big step and I may not run into your arms on day one. But I will be the cat who teaches you the quiet power of trust. Of healing. Of second chances.

Please... if you have space in your heart for a little soul learning how to love, I’m here. Waiting.

Love,
Salty

If interested, the first step is to go to our web site and fill out an adoption application at: thepetrefuge.org and print and fill it out and email back to ShelterManager@thepetrefuge.org..
