Sally & Sammy-ab's Story

Meet Sammy (all grey) and Sally (grey with white booties and a white chest)! They are a VERY bonded pair of sibling kittens ready for their fur-ever home. Both of these kittens were rescued from a large free-roaming cat colony on a rural property in Skagit county. SPOT’s TNR program not only assisted with altering and vaccinating this 30+ cat colony, but all kittens were pulled in to our rescue, or transferred to a no-kill shelter partner for medical care and an adoption pathway.

Sally had a very rough start to life and required several rounds of antibiotics and treatments for skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal illnesses. She is a true “heavy rescue” and required several months of intensive and acute care. Photos of her upon intake are truly difficult to see, however her future family will be provided them if desired, as her glow up is truly a remarkable success story. Through it all, Sammy was right there by her side, and their relationship is an exceptionally deep and special one. Although Sammy would have been adoptable months ago, they have remained together in care because they rely on one another.

Sally is now thriving. In her photos, you may notice a small patch of hair missing on her side. This will likely grow back with time, but she may have some permanent hair loss in that area. Otherwise, she is a healthy, happy, and playful girl who absolutely LOVES her human time. Pick her up and you will receive the biggest hug back- she wraps her arms tightly to your chest and instantly purrs in contentedness. Generally, she is happier to be “chilling” with her human, while Sammy, still very affectionate, tends to be a little more active and rambunctious. Still, he is a lover boy too- he just doesn’t “sit still” as long. They both play SO well and also enjoy their cuddle time together.

They are both accustomed to living with other cats in their foster home, and would likely do well in a home with or without other kitties. They are also used to living with a rambunctious 70 pound goldendoodle that tries to play with them like she doesn’t realize they are a different species than she, so would do well in a home with or without a dog that is not cat-aggressive. They would do very well in a home with young children who can spend lots of time playing with and cuddling them, as kittens are HIGH energy felines.

Sally and Sammy’s foster parents have invested a lot of time and attention into the care of these kittens, and SPOT has also invested heavily in the financial cost of the medical needs of treating a high acuity kitten. Their future adopter should have just as strong of a sense of investment into these kitties’ health and wellness needs, and a veterinary reference will be verified prior to adoption. That being said, both kittens are requiring no additional special care beyond the needs of any other healthy kittens of their age- lots of affection, toys and playtime, and ample nutritious food and clean water.
