Sabrina's Story
Sabrina came to us when she was a kitten at 5 months old. She was very shy and semi-feral - petting her was almost impossible. We noticed a cat in the cafe was having some bowel problems and leaving trails of diarrhea all over the rooms, which we later discovered was Sabrina. Catching her was very difficult, but we managed to do it, and we immediately fecal parasite tested her to see what was going on, which came back positive with Tritrichomonas and giardia. The giardia is treatable, so we were able to get rid of it. However, Tritrichomonas is a slightly uncommon fecal parasite, where the one medication that gets rid of it the most effectively (Ronidazole) is not FDA approved in the US. There is one medication that does sometimes treat it called metronidazole. Sabrina got treated with metronidazole for two months, but unfortunately, she still had the parasite. Then, at the beginning of this year, we discovered a website that does sell the ronidazole and started her on it. After the first two-week round of treatment, it's finally gone! While being treated and interacted with for those two months, she has become a lot friendlier. She LOVES churus, and will eat them out of your hand if you let her. She is very affectionate with the people she knows, and would be great pet for a quiet and stress-free household.
