Rugelach's Story
Born: 1/20/24
Intake: 1/13/25
Returned: 12/30/25

She’s sassy.
She’s opinionated.
She’s fiercely independent.
She’s Rugelach.

Rugelach is a cat who knows exactly who she is—and who she is not willing to share her space with. Despite our best efforts (including placing her with the famously calm and easygoing Crash Cat), Rugelach made it abundantly clear that she needs to be an only cat. She is not shy about expressing her feelings toward other felines, and returning to a free-roaming environment with 40 cats isn’t exactly her idea of paradise. Still, she’s doing her best while she waits for the right home.

While Rugelach can become overwhelmed at times and may show a bit of sass when she’s had enough, she is not aggressive toward people. She simply has preferences—and expects them to be respected. Given the chance to move at her own pace, she shines. She loves lounging in sunny windows, birdwatching, and engaging in play on her own terms.

During the just-over-two months she spent in a home of her own, Rugelach truly blossomed, soaking up the luxury of focused human companionship. She enjoyed having her person all to herself—no competition, no chaos, just mutual understanding. Whatever experiences she may have endured before coming to us likely shaped her boundaries, and she’s not asking for much—just a quiet, cat-free home where she can feel safe, respected, and adored.

If you’re looking for a spicy little solo kitty with a big personality and a soft center, Rugelach may be the perfect match for you.
