Roxie's Story

We’re looking for a very special home for Miss Roxie. She has been having a terribly hard time adjusting to the shelter. Being around other cats for her has been a challenge.

After being dumped on the side of the road, learning to trust has been a process for Roxie. But she has made incredible strides since her first few days with us.

Roxie is a people cat; you see her true colors after spending one on one time with her. She’s a tiny but mighty cat and we know that her loving capabilities can be just as bold. Roxie is a lap cat, a loyal cat and a cat just begging for understanding. Her only way of expression has been through her voice, and to some people that’s scary. Roxie’s eyes say everything that you really need to know- she’s just so sad and shut down.

*For an only cat home/For an owner with cat experience*

Town of Huntington Cat Shelter operated by Little Shelter Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy
Upon arriving at Town of Huntington Cat Shelter, you will be guided through our shelter with an adoption counselor, who will show you all the pets you are interested in, as well as pets that fit your lifestyle. You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt. All household members must come to Town of Huntington Cat Shelter to meet your new pet. Upon finding the ideal pet for you, you and the adoption counselor will place the animal on hold for 48 hours. Town of Huntington Cat Shelter does not do same day adoptions. During the hold period our adoption counselors will check two personal references for the adopters and a secondary owner, as well as perform a veterinarian check. If you have a landlord, we will check your building's policies on pet ownership. Upon completing this process, the adopters will come back and take their newly adopted pet home, and will get to take a family photo with their pet. Congratulations! If you have a dog, an animal interaction is required. This is usually the first step in the adoption process.
