Roscoe's Story

Meet Roscoe – the Sweetest Boy with a Rough Past
Age: 5 years
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Color: Tuxedo
Health: Neutered, Vaccinated, microchipped, FIV+
Location: In foster care – available for adoption through Underdog Pet Rescue

Roscoe came to a local shelter as a stray and he has clearly had a tough life. Roscoe came in dirty, scared, and with bite wounds on his neck. We don’t know exactly what he’s been through, but it’s clear this brave boy has had to fight to survive. And yet—despite it all—Roscoe is one of the kindest, gentlest souls you’ll ever meet.

Roscoe was transferred to Underdog because he was really struggling in a shelter setting and was constantly hiding. Now in a warm, loving foster home, Roscoe has shown us just how much love he has to give. He absolutely adores people and melts into pets and scratches, even drooling with happiness when he gets attention. He seeks out affection and will happily curl up next to you, purring away with gratitude.

Roscoe is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), a condition that often leads to cats like him being overlooked, unfairly judged, and often times euthanized as thousands of FIV+ cats are euthanized in shelters across the country each year.

Here's the truth:

- FIV+ cats can live long, healthy, normal lives—often just as long as cats without
the virus.

- FIV is not easily spread. It’s typically only transmitted through deep bite wounds
not through shared food bowls, litter boxes, or mutual grooming.

- FIV+ cats can live with other cats! There’s a persistent (and untrue) stereotype that FIV+ cats are aggressive towards other cats, but Roscoe is proof that this simply isn’t the case. Roscoe currently lives with other cats in his foster home and does fine with them though we feel he may prefer to be the only cat in the home.

Roscoe is a shining example of why cats like him deserve a second chance. He’s been through a lot, but he hasn’t let that harden him. All he wants now is a cozy, safe home where he can finally rest, heal, and be cherished.

If you’re ready to open your heart to a cat who will love you unconditionally—and show the world that FIV+ cats are just as worthy—Roscoe is waiting to meet you.

Apply to adopt Roscoe today. He’s ready to go home—and he just might drool a little to say thank you.

Roscoe is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to move in. Could your home be his happy ending?

If you are interested in Roscoe, please click on the below link and fill out the adoption application.
