Roro (Rosalina)'s Story

Meet Roro (Rosalina) – A Sweet, Independent Companion
Looking for Her Next Home ??

Due to severe allergies, the family has made the difficult decision to rehome her.
Roro is a 9-year-old, all-black American Shorthair. She’s spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and in great health. They've had her since she was a 4-month-old kitten, after she and her mom were rescued on the South Shore of Long Island.

Personality & Quirks:
Roro is independent and calm, with a naturally shy personality around new people. But once she trusts you, she’s incredibly sweet in her own quiet way. One of the things we love most about her is that when she does come over for pets or affection, it feels really special—like you’ve earned her trust. She loves being brushed and enjoys gentle pets, especially from people she knows well. In the winter, you might even find her curled up on your lap for warmth. While she’s not a cuddler or a cat who likes to be picked up, she absolutely loves to play—especially with hair ties! One of her favorite games is when we shoot a hair tie across the floor for her to chase. She’ll zoom after it and bat it around like a kitten.

Her Perfect Day Involves:
Lounging in a sunny spot or up high on her favorite cat tree Watching birds or the world go by from a window perch
Scratching her post (she’s great about using it daily)
Chasing hair ties or other small toys
Enjoying her favorite dry foods (duck is a big hit) and occasional treats like Greenies or squeeze-up snacks

Social Life:
Roro has always been an indoor cat. She’s not comfortable around dogs and will hide if one’s around. She’s lived peacefully with another adult cat before and has been around foster kittens without issues—she’s gentle and non-aggressive but tends to do her own thing. She’s highly independent.

The Type of Home She’ll Thrive In:
Roro would do best in a home without young children or dogs. Older, cat-savvy kids (around 7+) who understand cat behavior and boundaries would likely be fine. A calm, moderately active home would suit her best. She’d thrive with someone who has experience with cats and will understand and appreciate
her independence yet also affectionate personality. First-time cat owners could do well too—as long as they’re patient and willing to give her the time and space she needs to settle in. Roro's family is more than happy to stay in touch and answer any questions her new family might have—their priority is making sure she finds a home where she feels safe, loved, and understood.
