Romano's Story
Meet Romano, a striking brown and gold tabby with a wonderful ringed tail who along with many other cats were in a home, allowed to breed uncontrollably, and when the elderly owner died, no one to care for the cats. These indoor cats were forced out of the home into the outside with no shelter, food, water, etc. A terribly sad situation. Trappers were able to trap many cats and 10 of them have made their way to Second Chance.

Romano has slowly been coming out of his shell, learning we humans can be trusted. Romano appreciates a gentle approach and gentle pets and is most receptive when he is in a sleepy state. When he is alert and active he may give an initial hiss but it's more of a "can I trust you hiss?" rather than one of warning. Romano is acclimating and everyday we see him becoming more comfortable in little ways. He is the kind of cat that has that "grumpy" cat look, but he is far from being grumpy. Once you begin to pet him he relaxes. He just needs an adopter willing to care. One way to Romano's heart is play. He LOVES to play and is often batting around springs, balls, and wrestling with his roomie Meatloaf. A patient adopter willing to go slow, play often, and pet gentle will win Romano over.

Romano needs a quieter, routine environment. He would do best with a single adopter or a couple. He is a good roommate to the other cats and would appreciate having a cat friend to play with like Meatloaf.

Romano has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Romano has an approximate birthdate of 02/01/2023. His adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Romano or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
