Rivia's Story

Hi, my name is Rivia! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Affectionate, curious, potentially fractious
-Can Live with Cats: Rivia has never lived with other cats. She would likely be more comfortable as an only cat.
-Can Live with Dogs: Rivia has never lived with dogs. She would likely prefer a dog-free household.
-Can Live with Kids: Rivia has a bite history, and is required to go to an adults only household.
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes, Rivia is used to living indoors.
-History of Litter Box Issues: None
-Energy Level: Moderate
-Bite History: Rivia does have a bite history. Ask your counselor for more details.
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope!
Additional Information:
Meet Riva, a social and friendly cat who is looking for her forever home. She was surrendered to the shelter for fractious behavior, and she was very distressed when she first came in. But over time she has become more and more social with the shelter staff, and has become a big sweetheart. We are not sure what specifically caused her fractious behavior, but it was likely due to stress. She might need extra time to get adjusted to her new home, but once she's comfy, she will be a great companion. Due to her bite history, she is required to go home to a cat-experienced household without children. If you think Rivia is the cat for you, adopt today!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
