River's Story

River is a sandy brown tabby with a striking forehead "M" and white cheeks and chin. He has the spottiest kissable squishy belly you’ve ever seen! He has a very sweet, almost fox-like face, a dark nose and matching toe beans, plus permanent blue eyes. He is by far the strongest and most determined kitten out of his litter.

River was born with a leg deformity where one of his rear legs is twisted and it appears backward. Even with this defect, River still runs, plays, and uses his litterbox perfectly! He is a likely candidate for a leg amputation when he gets a little bigger, which KKP will cover. 3-legged cats are very capable of climbing, running, and doing most things that cats do!

Nothing holds this bold little fellow back. He has taken his one cooperating hind leg and put it to work to keep pace with his siblings when running, climbing, and even managing to perform some low jumps. River is a happy boy, full of love and loud purrs, especially when you hold him on his back like a baby. He would enjoy being with one of his siblings or another cat for warm and safe companionship.

River has a rare eye condition known as anterior segment dysgenesis, which means the surface of his eyes weren’t formed properly at birth. He will always have cloudy blue eyes. Although he can see light/dark and movement, it’s like looking through foggy, blue-tinted glasses for them. The good news: No treatment necessary! There is nothing to fix. His eyes will never get better nor worse, and the color of their eyes will always remain that crystalline blue.

Get to know River on his 24/7 livestream at kitkatplayroom.com/live.

Apply to adopt River at kitkatplayroom.com/adopt
