Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
Of course, we need to have some basic guidelines. To be considered, you must:
-Be 21 years of age or older
-Have identification showing your present address
-Have the knowledge and consent of your landlord
-If you live with parents, or other people, you must have them with you during the adoption visit
-Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care of the animal
How to Apply
The shelter accepts walk-ins only during regular adoption hours. (Monday-Friday 12 pm to 4 pm, Saturday-Sunday 12 pm to 5 pm). All candidates will complete an interview process to ensure a good match.
To save time, please complete the questionnaire found on the Find a Dog or Puppy or Find a Cat or Kitten page on our website at www.njshelter.org before you visit the shelter. Note, your questionnaire will be on file when you come to the shelter, we do not call applicants. Completing an online questionnaire does not guarantee placement of, nor hold, any animal.
If you plan to bring another canine to the shelter to conduct a “meet and greet” with one of our shelter pets, please call ahead so we can make proper arrangements for the meeting.
