Rick's Story

A big dummy boy with an even bigger heart, Rick is the sweetest man you may ever meet.

Rick is an avid baker. He makes biscuits on any and every surface -- while he's snuggling next to you on the couch or a blanket, but also sometimes on tile or wood floors (ineffective) or his foster mom's feet (more effective but, ouch).

Rick absolutely adores other cats -- is obsessed with them, even -- and is looking for a home with another feline friend for him to love up on. All he wants to do is follow them around, rub his face on them, and curl up as close as they will let him.

Rick has the tendency to be a big scaredy cat, and might take a little longer to warm up to people. But, once he does, he will follow you around, chirping, chatting to you all kinds of things! He will sleep snuggled up in bed with you, if you let him.

Rick is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, negative for FIV and FeLV, microchipped, and has been treated for fleas/other parasites. Backyard Cats of Bed-Stuy's Adoption Policy
I ask that everyone interested in adopting a cat from me starts the application process by filling out my adoption application! The more details you can provide, the better. You can find the app here: https://www.backyardcatsofbedstuy.com/adoption-application Once I've received your application, if I'm interested in moving forward I'll reach out to schedule a Zoom call (or sometimes an in-person meeting, where possible). I often have the foster join as well to talk more specifically about each cat's personality and needs. If the meet-and-greet goes well, and if requested, the potential adopter can arrange a time to meet the cat(s) at their foster homes, or they can start out with a trial "foster-to-adopt" period of one month, to make sure it is a good fit for both cats and humans. A cat isn't considered "fully adopted" until they have been through proper vetting (spayed or neutered, given rabies and FVRCP vaccines, tested for FeLV and FIV, microchipped, and dewormed and treated for fleas). I love to stay in touch with my adopters and often receive updates about their new pets thriving in their forever homes!
