Rhonda's Story

Meet Rhonda! Rhonda came to us in January 2023 when our volunteer, Amanda, overheard a customer at her place of work complaining about a cat always in his trash can searching for food. He stated that he was going to "get rid of her." Quick as a wink, Amanda stepped in, left work, went to the house, and brought Rhonda to us. (The man later gave us a donation.) Rhonda got her name from the Beach Boy's song, "Help Me, Rhonda.'

Rhonda is a beautiful brown tabby white paws and chest and beautiful green eyes, about 4 years old. She is very sweet and unassuming, and seems to have low self-esteem. Poor Rhonda must've been through a lot while being on her own out there and must've been eating out of the trash for quite some time, because she had a hard time keeping food down for the first 2 weeks she was in our care. She was so nervous that she had lost some of her fur on her legs. When she 1st came to us, she was a bit of a Mary Contrary - she wanted to be pet, but only for a short time and then would bat at you, telling you to stop; however, she is a total love bug now, hopefully because she has learned to trust in people again.

Rhonda has been with us for 2 years and is as good as can be! She eats heartily, She is very friendly, loves to rub her head up against you, and would make nice companion cat once she is comfortable. One quirky thing about Rhonda is that she LOVES whistling for some reason. You can whistle a song and she will run to you from wherever she is in the house and rub all over you - your face, everywhere! Singing seems to have the same effect on her. She gets along well with other cats and is a love bug to humans, often wanting to sit on the arm of the sofa to watch a movie with you, frequently rubbing her head on you to let you know she values being with you. (See photo.)

Rhonda's perfect home would be a quiet, low activity home with either no children or kids over the age of 10. Rhonda is spayed, received an FVRCP vaccine, a rabies vaccine, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration.
