RENNY's Story

Meet Renny
(His name means “Mighty” in Irish)
DOB: ~ November 2019
Intake: November 3, 2025

Renny came to us after surviving as a stray for nearly two years, and his name—meaning mighty—couldn’t be more fitting, even if that strength isn’t immediately visible yet.

Upon arrival, Renny was anemic and suffering from significant dental disease and bilateral ear infections, which had caused deep, painful wounds on his face. Medically, he had clearly been through far too much on his own.

Emotionally, Renny surprised us. Despite being known as a confident, big-personality presence in the neighborhood while under the watchful eye of his caretaker, Kimm, he arrived extremely timid and painfully shy—a complete contrast to the boy she knew outdoors. Right now, Renny is still learning that he is safe, that hands are kind, and that no one here intends to harm him.

Progress is slow—but it is progress. With patience, gentle handling, and plenty of irresistible treats, Renny is gradually beginning to trust. And when Kimm comes to visit, we catch glimpses of the bright, confident cat who once ruled his outdoor world.

Renny is FIV-positive, which means indoor life is his only safe and viable option. Returning him to colony care simply isn’t possible. Thankfully, there are no time limits at our free-roaming shelter. Renny is allowed to move at his own pace, taking all the time he needs to come out of his shell and become the mighty man we know lives inside him.

Until that day comes, we will continue to meet his every need, respect his boundaries, and spoil him exactly as he deserves.
