Rebound's Story

"Hi! I'm Rebound the Wobbler. I'm brave, resilient, and I love to play with my cat toys. I'm so lovable I turn dog people into cat people!"

We are all very proud of how far Rebound has come since arriving at Paw Warriors last summer. A lady found him living as a stray kitten and noticed he was struggling to walk. She fed him for a month before she could gain his trust enough to catch him, at which point we had her take him to the AA ER where he was diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. CH is a developmental condition that inhibits the development of the cerebellum, the part of the brain that affects fine motor skills, coordination and balance. It is not painful or contagious.

Having CH means that Rebound sways and stumbles when he walks, his movement overall being uncoordinated. This means he will sometimes fall or trip. In the past 7 months Rebound has slowly adapted to his condition, proving to all of us how intelligent and strong he is! He has built up muscle around his body to support himself and he can now walk with more confidence than ever before. He will always have trouble with his coordination but as long as his environment is safe and he is not given access to the outdoors, he can live a long and happy life like any other cat. Having CH has made Rebound resilient, adaptable and brilliantly stubborn. It is his superpower!

Rebound loves to play with toys, whether these are teasers, jingle balls, kickers, or little catnip toys. He also loves to be cuddled and fussed! He weaves around legs and will use you as support and balance. He would need to be the only pet in the home and could only live with older children that are mindful of his condition and can understand he does not want to be picked up as this is disorienting for him. He deserves the best home possible, which would have to be safety proofed and have plenty of areas for playing/relaxing/sleeping that are easy for him to get to, safe, and stable.

Could you be the perfect fit for Rebound? Make an appointment to meet Rebound by messaging our Facebook page, or come by at Happy Hour (Wednesday-Sunday, 5pm-7pm) to ask about him and meet our other misfits!
