Rain25F's Story

Rain: The bright, spicy flourish that turns your home's story into something richer

Rain is a one‐year‐old, bright‐eyed, sweet‐and‐spicy little storyteller who brings personality, humor, and connection to every room she enters. She doesn't just join your home -- she edits it. Softly, joyfully, and with the occasional dramatic correction when you've misread her emotional script.

She brings conversation: chirps, trills, and running commentary that make your home feel like it has its own soundtrack. You'll talk back without thinking, and she'll answer like she's been waiting for her cue.

She brings play: zoomies that brighten even the stormiest days, and her beloved game of fetch -- usually with an emery board, because Rain believes in repurposing household items for maximum utility. She'll lay it across your toes with great ceremony, waiting for you to throw it again and again. At the window, she chatters at birds and squirrels like she's narrating her own nature documentary.

She brings affection: warm head‐butts, soft lap melts, gentle requests for pets. She's sincere, sweet, and gives closeness in a way that feels earned.

And then... she brings righteous indignation.

Rain has very clear opinions about when, how, and for how long affection should occur. Pet her one time too many or slightly out of rhythm with her wishes, and she'll deliver a swift "that's enough" correction. But her finest work is the delayed verdict: she'll start to walk away, pause mid‐stride, reconsider the offense, and return to administer a flurry of tiny smacks of justice. Not harmful, not aggressive -- just Rain being Rain, expressive and delightfully dramatic.

Because she communicates with her paws when boundaries are crossed, Rain is best suited for a cat-experienced, adults‐only home or one with older, respectful children who understand feline cues.

Rain also has opinions about other animals -- and they're surprisingly thoughtful. She has lived happily with:
* a playful young cat who matched her energy
* a gentle, elderly male cat who offered calm companionship
* a steady, boundary‐setting mother cat who teaches good manners and expects respect

Her one mismatch was with a cat who was easily offended and struggled to set boundaries during play. Rain thrives with cats who are either enthusiastic playmates or steady, grounded companions -- personalities that enjoy interaction and communicate clearly.

She is also dog‐curious. She hasn't had the opportunity to make friends with any dogs yet, but she's shown interest and confidence around calm, cat‐savvy dogs she's observed at adoptathons. With the right gentle canine -- one who respects her space and communicates clearly -- she may do well as a fun, spicy little sister.

Rain brings connection: she checks on you at night, greets you in the morning, and becomes part of your household's language. She's the cat everyone asks about, the one whose antics you retell, the one who makes guests laugh.

Rain doesn't cloud your story -- she enriches it with bright, funny, honest little edits, because she'll always tell you exactly how she feels.

Rain is currently available as a foster‐to‐adopt kitty, giving her future family the chance to welcome her home, learn her rhythms, and fall in love at her pace. And once she's there, you'll wonder how your home ever felt complete without her.

Learn more about our Foster-to-Adopt program at https://www.purrpartners.org/foster-to-adopt-program/For more information or to apply to adopt, please go to: https://www.purrpartners.org/adopt/

Purr Partners's Adoption Policy
~You must be willing to make a 20 year commitment to the cat or kitten you want to adopt. ~Must be 21 years of age and able to provide a valid driver’s license or photo ID with your current address. ~All pets in your home must be sterilized and current on vaccinations, heartworm meds, etc., unless there is a medical reason validated by your veterinarian. We STRONGLY believe that all cats should have an annual vet visit even if they never go outside. ~You must be willing to provide veterinary references for current and/or past pets or at least three personal/professional references if you have never had a pet. ~You must be willing AND able to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and appropriate care for your pet for its entire lifetime (i.e. annual vet visits, procedures recommended by your vet, emergency care as necessary.) ~Kittens under the age of 4 months must be adopted in pairs unless there is currently a cat in the home that is under five years old. ~For kittens under the age of 4 months, children must be at least 5 years old unless there is a current cat in the home. ~For certain breeds and dogs that do not currently live with a cat, or at our request, you must agree to a home visit and a dog test before the application can be approved and adoption finalized. ~Because our cats are in foster homes and all of our foster parents are volunteers, we cannot arrange a meet and greet with a cat or kitten until your application has been submitted and approved. ~If there are multiple applicants for the same cat or kitten, we will choose what we consider to be the most appropriate applicant for that particular animal. Each of our rescues have different personalities and needs, and we know that every home is not appropriate for every cat or kitten. ~Applications submitted on the weekends cannot be processed until Monday or Tuesday, holidays and other factors may slow this process. We require at least 2 business days to process the application and contact you. Once you have submitted your application, please contact your veterinarian and authorize the release of your veterinary records. ~Not all require this, but many do, and it will help speed the process. ~We do not hold cats. Once an applicant is approved, the adoption must be completed within 48 hours unless specific arrangements are made with the rescue. ~If an online application is approved, and the cat or kitten is scheduled for an adoptathon, the approved adopter must show up at the beginning of the adoptathon on the day the cat or kitten will be at PetSmart. After 15 minutes, the cat becomes available to any approved adopter waiting.
