Queen Elizabeth's Story
Hi, my name is Queen Elizabeth! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Social, friendly, dignified
-Can Live with Cats: Elizabeth has previously lived with a dog, and other cats, but was very protective of her kittens, she had a few brief interactions with our dog and cat, and was very fearful/aggressive, which totally makes sense while raising kittens. I think with a slow, careful introduction she could be successful with a respectful dog.
-Can Live with Dogs: Same as above
-Can Live with Kids: She does well with older, respectful kids (8+)
-Needs Indoor Only Home: Yes
-History of Litter Box Issues: None
-Energy Level: Medium
-Bite History: None
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: A spay and microchip at whs will be included in adoption
Important medical note: Elizabeth struggled with some constipation after some dietary changes, but has responded very well to a small dose of daily Miralax with some wet food. She should be able to be tapered off of this slowly, with veterinary supervision, after adjusting to her new home!
Additional Information:
Queen Elizabeth is very friendly with people but nervous with loud, fast movements, and needs a patient family with some experience of cat behavior and body language. She is very social and friendly! She is very talkative and lets you know when she wants attention! Elizabeth has been a really excellent mother, and taken amazing care of all of her kittens. She loves to be around people, nap in her cozy hammock, and eat treats! Elizabeth would love a calm, cat experienced home. She has raised 3 litters of kittens in 6 months, and survived living on her own outdoors in tough conditions. Elizabeth is ready for her turn to be spoiled and cared for! She’s still in “survival mode” and sometimes reacts out of fear when she’s startled or overwhelmed. She needs a home that will give her the time to decompress and acclimate, and let the wonderful pet that she is shine through!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
