Meet Queen.<br/><br/>Queen is an almost 7-year-old domestic shorthair who came to ACS after her owner could no longer care for her and was planning to put her outside. Being surrendered was terrifying. She shut down, was scared of everyone, and thought everyone was an enemy.<br/><br/>Queen is declawed, and without her nails - one of her natural forms of defense - she learned to use her mouth when she felt unsafe. She doesn't want to hurt anyone. She just wants to feel secure and have control over her space.<br/><br/>Then one person at the shelter refused to give up on her. Eventually, Queen decided she was okay, and that person became her foster family. <br/><br/>Now, Queen is basically the teenager who stays in her room most of the day but comes out for dinner and family functions. She loves her hammock, watching birds, loafing on shoes, and having her own space. She's also great with cats and dogs!<br/><br/>We think Queen would do best with other pets who can be the needy ones. Let them demand your attention while Queen hangs out nearby doing her own thing.
