Purr Maine Coon & Tabby Mix Clarksville, IN

Purr is a really odd cat, through no fault of his own. He lived in a basement where an elderly man would go down and visit with him. He was the only person Purr ever saw in his 10 years.
He never ate cat food only treats, and he plays in his water bowl. The water bowl is always filthy from his feet being in the water all the time because he splashes it out everwhere. When gentleman went in nursing home a neighbor started feeding the 2 cats. She never saw Purr he would hide. After 2 months he came out but she couldnt get him. He sometimes ate and sometimes wouldn't eat. We had several people offer to foster so we put some gabapentin in some tuna and he nibbled and became more relaxed and we got him a few hours later. We took to vet (hadn't been since a kitten). He was petrified. I mean petrified, but not mean. He had a horrible mouth. He tested out okay and we scheduled a dental. He had some abcessed teeth and we know he felt better after 5 or 6 teeth were pulled. We put him in a bathroom and put big blanket in tubs etc. (Tub not used). He wanders out occasionally but feels safe in that room. Foster does have other cats but they don't bother him. He is petrified if he would see someone besides foster mom. He flips out. So scared. But she can trim his nails etc. But he is the messiest cat ever. He takes food out of the bowls and the water out. Not sure why he does that! Purr needs a quiet home.
