PRINCESS KIKO's Story

Princess Kiko – Small in Size, Royal in Spirit

Delightfully short and squatty, with little legs and a glorious body — meet our Princess Kiko.

Who cares if our delicate, porcelain-like little lady tested positive for Feline Leukemia virus? Certainly not us. And definitely not the many people who happily spend time with her curled in their laps, soaking up her nuzzles and snuggles.

I named her after a beautiful Japanese princess — dainty, delicate, demure… yet perfectly capable of demanding an audience. Thankfully, we are more than happy to provide one for our royal girl.

Kiko was born in early 2023 and somehow found herself homeless, eventually arriving at Best Pals in October 2025. Because she tested positive for FeLV, she had to live separately from the other cats in a foster home. Unfortunately, that arrangement didn’t quite suit her social and affectionate personality.

When they reached out to us, I was thrilled to welcome her into our program at Big Sid’s on January 26th. Aside from her FeLV status, Kiko is in excellent health. Her lab work is normal, and she maintains a perfect body weight. And that gait — oh my goodness, that gait — somehow makes her even more adorable than we thought possible.

Radiographs of her limbs and spine revealed a congenital defect in the vertebrae of her tail, an incidental finding that isn’t related to her uniquely shortened legs that bend inward slightly at the hocks (ankles); there is nothing pathological causing that, and her mobility is fantastic. In fact, her energy is boundless.

Princess Kiko (pronounced kee-koh) is an incredibly sweet and playful girl who simply loves being around people. She thrives on attention and happily spends her time playing, exploring, or cuddling up with her favorite humans, although we feel that ideally a home without small children or dogs may be the best fit for her. Ideally, she would love someone who is home often and can give her the attention she so thoroughly enjoys.

She’s truly an amazing, well-adjusted little girl — and we are completely smitten with our tiny princess.

If you are interested in meeting her, reach out to learn about our 'Forever Foster a Feleuk Program'!
