Prepotente - Winterville, GA's Story

Prepotente, a.k.a. Pony, is lovingly named after a goat from the Dungeon Crawler Carl book series. A highly intelligent talking goat of the stubborn and screaming variety. We’ll come back to that. We found Pony in the shelter (like all our kitties), a ¾ pound creature that was more eyeballs than cat. Shelter protocol is that animals that come in get their own cage. A litter of kittens comes in with mom? They share a cage. Well, little Pony came in by himself. You can imagine how absolutely pitiful he was. We couldn’t leave him. We got him home and it was apparent he had picked a bug up, unfortunately. His weight dropped down just over a half pound over a couple days and his GI tract was in full rebellion, and we thought we were going to lose him. We threw every med we could responsibly get in him, gave subcutaneous fluids twice a day, and syringe fed him every 2 hours for 2.5 days, taking time off work and setting alarms through the night. Ahh, the joys of fostering. Well, Pony was an absolute trooper, and the little guy bounced back!

Okay, back to the whole talking, intelligent, stubborn, screaming goat thing. Pony was named before he had any of these characteristics, but he took it upon himself to live up to his namesake. To be fair, he only screamed constantly while he was in the quarantine kitty playpen, but he is incredibly willful and stubborn, and has WAY more opinions than a kitten should. It’s pretty hilarious watching this tiny animal actively trying to stand up to you when you blow on him or try to push him away from your dinner plate. He doesn’t just try to get the plate…he verbalizes how he feels about you stopping him, pins his ears back, and sticks his paws up like he’s going to bat at you (he doesn’t follow through with the threat). When he figured out he could play with the zippers to escape his playpen, we knew we were in trouble. He then wasted no time figuring out the puzzle feeders we make our adult cats use at mealtime. He doesn’t use his smarts all for trouble though. The first night he slept with us, Pony immediately jumped up on the bed and nestled down next to our heads on a fleece we keep there like he owned the place and slept silently for 8 hours straight. Our other cats normally bicker over who gets to sleep in that spot, and he did his best to steal it from them. He’s not even 2 pounds. To be clear, most kittens can’t even figure out they can get up on the bed and sleep there initially and instead just scream and run around until we kick them out of the bedroom. The first few nights are almost always like that, but Pony had no problem adjusting to the dynamics of the room/schedule. Good boy!
Prepotente has been a delight, to be honest. He gets into a little bit of trouble, as most kittens do, but is just impossible to be mad at cause he’s too darn cute. He’s sweet, quirky, has a metric ton of personality, and a great little purr. He’s positively fearless, loves both cats and people, and would likely do great with a dog as well. Come meet Prepotente and try NOT to be in love with him!

Available for pre-adoption only until he’s fully vaxxed and neutered.

Adoption Application - http://fs17.formsite.com/cofas/catform/

All of our cats and kittens are fostered in homes so we know their personalities.
