Precious's Story

Precious is a good, good boy. He loves LOVE! He'll roll around all over the carpet getting pets and back pats and belly rubs. He's quite fond of toys, too.
It was not my first choice to re-home Precious. See, at my cat house, we have this five your old menace who has made it her DUTY to hunt him down and attack him. This led to two fractious cats in my small home and many accidents. Precious was never the issue. Not for us, and not for his fellow cats. I just want him in a safer home. This isn't it.
Precious loves love, belly rubs, string toys, carpet, company, and above all - to feel safe in a hide away place. When you first meet him, and first take him home away to that safe hide away home, he will not abandon his kennel until he is absolutely sure that there is another hide away place beyond his horizon waiting. Under the couch perhaps...
And speaking of couches...this man is a total couch potato. He was fine with our fellow cats. He just wants a quiet home. Before me, he lived with my grandmother. He was always a happy kitten. She had rescued him from her Florida neighborhood....
When I first got Precious, at the top of the year, he was just curled in a ball, a depression of sorts, for days, hidden away. But it has been my pleasure to watch him bloom. You've got to have patience with him, too. What else can I say, he's just a real flower.
There's only one bad (bad) thing about this boy: He doesn't want to be caught. He will fight you. Hiss curses at you. But I have advice: the night before a vet visit, (or when he has to be caught), I had put his litter, food, water, and his covered kennel in a room with no other hidey place EXCEPT for the covered kennel. Mmmm, warm, hiddey, he'll think. And in he goes....
Take this advice with the ingenuity to create your own plan. After all!! the love, and care, and belly rubs, I was able to eventually pick him up and carry him around paces, so this may be less of an issue for you in your home and as time passes. My boyfriend, however, had had no such luck
Precious is just a scaredy one, but a love-bug nonetheless. Apply at PPNK.org
