Pounce de Leon's Story

Pounce de Leon (also affectionately called Willie here) is an approximately five month old, handsome medium hair tuxedo with the cutest little white dots on his nose, possibly a Maine Coon mix with his long whiskers, adorable ear furnishings, little fur tufts between his toes, and soft, silky hair.

Pounce was a feral kitten living at an apartment complex with his mom and his sister, Penny. The caretaker finally trapped him at approximately 16 weeks of age.

Pounce is marked as Special Needs as he is taking some work to gain his trust - time and patience is needed and will be needed from his new family as he adjusts to his surroundings and learns to trust them. Pounce does well in his crate, relaxes and enjoys petting. And he is free to roam the kitten room 24 hours a day now. Pounce will need to be confined to one area where he can be easily reached to continue to work with him.
We know he isn’t as socialized as we would prefer to mark him as adoptable, but feel it would be best for him to learn to trust and become attached to his new people while still a kitten instead of growing up in a foster home. Also, his foster home is a short term placement and we are trying to avoid placing him in a barn home situation, which may be his last option in his current state.

Pounce relaxes and melts against your hand when he is being petted. He is very cautious of people, yet yearns for their touch. With the right person or persons, we believe Pounce will blossom and become a happy, well adjusted boy.

Pounce has been neutered, dewormed, received flea preventative, his first FVRCP vaccination and a Rabies vaccination. His mother was tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV and the results were negative.

If you’re interested in Pounce please contact Brenda at (234) 567-7858 via text or voicemail, or email austinsfam@aol.com. Pounce’s adoption fee is minimal as the goal is to find him a home with someone who has experience with under socialized cats, and/or someone who understands the time and patience needed to earn their trust and affection. Pounce will need a few weeks to adjust to his new surroundings. He would most likely do best in a home with adults only, or a home with older children. A home with at least one other cat would be a bonus for him. He loves his fellow felines.
