Poppy's Story

Poppy is a beautiful ticked tabby that came to FDHS this past spring as part of a large hoarding case involving nearly 30 cats. The home she came from was not what a sweet cat like her deserved. She deserved clean drinking water, nutritious meals she did not have to compete for, and a cozy place to sleep that was not overcrowded and unsanitary.

It always tugs at our hearts a little extra when shelter life is truly the best life an animal has ever known. We love our animals fiercely and do everything we can to make their stay here comfortable, but a shelter can never replace the love and security of a HOME. More than anything, we are excited to see Poppy finally experience what it means to have that for herself.

During her time with us, Poppy has slowly started to trust the people caring for her. She is still very much a wallflower and prefers to observe the world from a distance, but she has discovered that head butts and gentle pets are actually pretty nice - as long as they happen on her terms.

Poppy has a little bit of spice mixed in with her sweetness, so she may not be the best fit for a home with young children. She is looking for a quieter place where she can settle in at her own pace and simply enjoy being a cat. If you are searching for a calm, well mannered companion and have room in your heart for a cat who deserves a fresh start, Poppy would love the opportunity to find her happily ever after.

**Spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention**
