Pooh's Story

POOH was rescued from NYC ACC (ACC #121857) as an underage kitten with a mild medical issue. He has grown into a stunning, affectionate, highly energetic, healthy 1.5 year-old. This handsome knockout gets along with all his foster mates and preferably will go to a home with a similarly aged feline. Pooh LOVES to lounge in his very securely enclosed outside kitty terrace. He is an indoor only kitty.

Pooh is FeLV/FIV tested negative, neutered, microchipped and current in vaccinations. He is an absolute darling who will be sorely missed by his foster mom when he's placed.

Pooh has a temporary special need. He was diagnosed with "juvenile gingivitis" - red gums which require some extra care. His teeth need to be brushed and he definitely should have teeth cleanings a couple times a year for the first couple years. The gingivitis often results in dental extractions during the cleanings. The condition normally tapers off after age two. By that time the kitty usually has had a number of extractions and the condition subsides. Pet dental care can be inordinately expensive so the adopter should prepare for this expense in the beginning. Please email placeforcatsinc@verizon.net for more information. The great news is that the condition already vastly improved within the last 6 months but attention still needs to be paid to monitor the condition.

Prospective adopters are asked please to complete our adoption application and email it to placeforcatsinc@verizon.net along with a statement in your own words about yourself, your experience with pets and why you feel you would make the best home for this kitten.

While we are eager to meet all prospective adopters we ask that our application be completed before scheduling a meet-and-greet at Pooh's foster home. (The format proffered by petfinder that merely has the prospective adopter check off boxes that match the kitty's description is not a format that provides us with information about the prospective adopter that we require in advance of a meet-and-greet so we encourage interested parties to email.)

Please note that Place For Cats' adoption contract contains a No Declawing clause, and in any case, the paw tip amputation is illegal in New York State. Adopters agree to a $175 adoption fee and a home visit. All original medical records are given to the adopter at the time of adoption. Place For Cats definitely will take back a cat that does not acclimate to the new home.
