Poke came to us after what was thought to be a urinary blockage. After further evaluation and many visits, veterinarians discovered that part of his anatomy was malformed and required reconstructive surgery. He healed beautifully and has never let it slow him down or diminish his silly, loving personality. Poke is also FIV positive. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is often misunderstood, but many cats with FIV live long, happy, completely normal lives. FIV is primarily spread through deep bite wounds, not through normal social behaviors like sharing food bowls, grooming, or cuddling. Because of this, FIV-positive cats can often live peacefully with other friendly, non-aggressive cats. FIV simply means a cat's immune system can be a little more sensitive if exposed to illness.
