PJ- Shy but Blossoming! 's Story
Purrlease read PJ's bio carefully. He has a lot of energy and receives tons of enrichment in his foster home. If you are interested in meeting PJ, please email us a completed adoption application to mojoshope@gmail.com. Thank you!

Handsome and adorably sweet PJ. PJ was transferred to our Mojo’s Hope program back in March of 2022 after being adopted from another organization. Unfortunately this energetic youngster was too much for the resident elder kitty in the home. We always want the resident pets to feel comfortable and safe and their needs must be met. While PJ is a delight & very loved by his now foster home, he is on purrsuit of a new loving home. PJ went to see our fab vet at VCA Alaska Pet Care because we have had concerns about his breathing (which was present at adoption, but wasn’t treated in the previous program) and we want to ensure that he gets the care he needs to feel better. He received antibiotics first to see if that helps. If there isn’t any change, he will go back in for X-rays and the vet will also look for polyps in his nasal passage as well. He was much better after the treatment and has not displayed any breathing issues since then.

After a detailed evaluation and diagnostics, PJ has been cleared medically by our vet. He is more than ready to meet potential adopters and would love to make another purrfect connection.

If you are interested in meeting this gorgeous sable tabby king, purrlease email our adoption application

Here are some loving words from his ameowzing foster mom!
“PJ is an affectionate, energetic, happy cat who gives the best head bumps and purrs so loud. He will make you laugh with his antics and then make you melt when he wraps himself around your arm to fall asleep. The key to PJ is earning his trust.
He is looking for a new loving home through no fault of his own. He was adopted from another organization into a home with an older cat who does not appreciate his personality.
Before adoption, PJ spent his growing up time in a room with other shy cats & we could tell he wanted to accept love, but was afraid to. When he was brought home he hid for the first week in his sleeping pod. With steady, patient exposure to loving talk & a calm place to acclimate to, PJ slowly but surely became more confident.
Finally, after 3 weeks he began accepting pets. And once he started, he couldn’t get enough! This lovebug likes to be carried around, kissed on his paws and will hold a meerkat pose to get a head bump. PJ likes other cats, but is a rambunctious youngster who would benefit from another cat who will match his playfulness. He will need a relatively quiet home where he is given a safe space to acclimate to while learning to trust his new person(s). He’s still standoffish with strangers but once he trusts you, he won’t waver.”

PJ transitioned back to the House of MojoB and has been successfully living with other cats of all different ages without any issues. We hope that with our slow introductions, play therapy and TLC this will continue. We would love for him to find a home that understands the nature of shy cats and give him the setting where he can continue to thrive.

PJ was adopted to another home for a few weeks, however he was too shy for the household and they were not prepared to give him the time he needed to work with him to feel safe and secure.

PJ adjusted back to our MH rather well, he is a shy baby, but enjoys tender pets, loves to play and is beginning to mellow out a bit more. A home for him would be one that is patient and understanding. He will have his zoomies and having other playful cats to engage with is the ideal setting for him. This will allow him to build friendships and have other cats as a guide to see how it is to interact with people.

PJ had his wellness visit on 11/15/23 and did very well. He had some Gabapentin on board to help him relax as he is very shy in new settings. He was examined and all is still well with him. He just needs to have his ears continued to be cleaned on a regular basis (waxy buildup).

Enrichment and friendship building time is implemented every day in their foster home and we aim to end each "session" on a positive note. They are an exceptionally sweet and loving pair that would make a wonderful addition to your loving home.

Mojo's Hope always wants to ensure that our rescues choose the most wonderful home possible. To help our adopters match up with the PURRfect pet, we are asking something unique for our adoption fee.

First, we ask you to please fill out our adoption application. Our adoption fee for cats is generally $100.00. Instead of paying this adoption fee, we are asking our adopters to use that money towards preparing for the arrival of their newest addition.

Here is a list of suggested supplies to get your home ready. •Food/Water dishes • Uncovered Litter Box/Litter
• Scratching Posts/Cat Trees
• Feliway (cat pheromone that assists with stress and behaviors)
• Cat Beds/Hidey Spot/Cube/Kennel (foster home will provide at least one piece of bedding or a bed from the foster home to assist with the transition, having their own smell alleviates stress)
• Cat Trees/Perches
• Music (Through a Cat’s Ear is highly recommended, www.icalmpet.com
• Enrichment Toys
• Cat DVDs
• Collar/harness/ID tag
• Carrier

Mojo's Hope provides a care package for each of our rescues when they go to their adoptive home. This care package includes food, bedding, toys, enrichment activities, treats, and a transition packet. The transition packet provides the adopter with a look into the daily life of our rescue and helps the cat and the family support each other during this process.

Mojo's Hope has a very clear and strong position when it comes to cats keeping their claws. We are adamantly opposed to declawing. It is barbaric, cruel, and has proven to cause long-term negative effects on the cat’s body and emotional well-being. Both our adoption application and agreements have an additional clause that the adoptive family signs, that states very clearly that they agree to reach out to MH if behavior concerns arise and that they are never to declaw the cat.

Please do not submit your application if you have any intention of declawing.
