Pippin & Balin -,WI's Story

Franklin, WI

Pippin and Balin are cats that were pulled from a hoarder/breeder who was hospitalized. The cats were alone in a basement for 6 months with the only human contact from someone feeding and changing litter boxes. We need think they are father and son, 2 and 3 years old approximately. When we got them, they would not look at us and stayed in a covered area while we were near them. They would only come out when we were not in the foster area. They have progressed to being out all the time and they will follow us and sniff our legs. We have been able to intermittently touch Pippin but he can lash out if you have treats in your hands. Balin just runs away if a hand comes near him. They are very food motivated and will come on our laps to eat treats or walk around our still hand and eat treats laying on floor. We tried cat handling gloves but Pippin is terrified of them.

They have a ton of energy and love to play with laser lite, wand toys, puzzle feeders. We have been not been successful with

Other than one corner of a very old sofa that was scratched by a previous foster, they have not damaged any of our other furniture. They use the cat scratching posts consistently.

They are on dry food twice a day. The original agency that rescued them was a vet and they had to sedate the cats for medical. They are healthy and FIV negative. We have not had them back to the vet since then, but there are no obvious medical issues.

They are bonded and should stay together

We think they need more attention than we have been able to give them. Plus we will be having major construction done on our house this summer and we think that noise is going to really stress them.

We are looking for someone to take over fostering them (or to adopt them).

If interested, email us at info@greatlakesbengalrescue.com
