Pickle's Story
Hello, My name is Pickle. I am a sweet, timid man who was not treated well in my past, and I am looking for a gentle, loving owner who will treat me with the respect and love I deserve. I ask that you please read my entire bio before you scroll past me.

I was originally adopted from Pet Angel in 2018, but I was returned in July of 2025. One day, my former owner called Pet Angel and said I had to come back to Pet Angel because I was peeing outside the litterbox and ruining their home. Pet Angel’s director wanted to set up a time for my return after the 4th of July weekend, and that’s when my former owner told her that if I didn’t come back in the next 24 hours, they would end my life. Pet Angel asked if I had been to the vet for my peeing issue (as 95% of the time, when a cat goes outside the box its because of a medical issue) they said no, I had never been to a vet since 2018 at all. When Pet Angel explained that it would be cheaper to get a urine analysis done on me rather than euthanize me, and it would likely solve my peeing issue and I would be able to stay with them, my former owner said they wouldn’t euthanize me at the vet, they would take care of me themselves. That is when Pet Angel set up a time for me to be returned the following day. My former owner was not kind to the Pet Angel staff, or the other cats at Pet Angel while they were here returning me. Due to the way they acted in the presence of Pet Angel staff, and the state I was in emotionally upon my arrival, Pet Angel and Pet Angel’s vet have made the decision that I was most definitely abused in my former home. Upon my intake, it took weeks until I was comfortable enough to visit the vet, but I passed all my vet checks. I did not have anything medically wrong with me, and the vet determined that I was going outside the litterbox exclusively due to the abuse I was enduring in my former home. Since being at Pet Angel, I have not gone outside my litterbox at all, because now I am treated with love and respect.

Over the past few months, I have went from absolutely utterly terrified to a talkative man who loves to make biscuits and get my head scratched. I am still timid, and I have not had enough courage to come outside of my cage, but whenever the volunteers open my cage door to spend time with me, I come right up to the front for love, and I purr oh-so-loud! I love to meow little squeeky meows, asking for your attention. I love to get my head pet, and walk back and forth so you can pet all the way down to my tail. I even roll over for belly rubs, showing that I trust you. I give kisses when I’m happy, especially if you’re giving me cat treats! Speaking of cat treats, I love them! Treats and wet food, and I’ll even eat a churu straight out of the tube if you offer it! I spend my time alone either inside a hidey hole bed, or underneath the beds in my cage, because after spending so long in an unsafe environment, I find comfort in being in hidey holes or underneath things. However, if you offer me attention and gentle affection, I will accept it without fail. I don’t play with toys very often, but when I do, I reach for kick sticks and yeowww catnip toys (the yeowww brand specifically!) Even though I am nervous, I am learning to trust humans again, and I am looking for the purrfect human who will not only show me that I will never be mistreated again, but will love me for all the rest of my days.

I am looking for a quiet, very calm home, as lots of people and loud noises make me nervous. I lived with another cat previously, but due to the fact that I will not come out of my cage at Pet Angel, Pet Angel hasn’t been able to test me with other cats yet (they will be working on this, and will update this post when I finally meet other cats.) so while they think I will like other cats, they cannot guarantee anything. I would not do well in a home with dogs or any other animals, however. I am not suitable for a home with young children, or a big family, as I do not do well with a lot of people around. I would be okay with a very calm home with a calm teenager who understand my history and will treat me with respect, love, and calmness. Otherwise, I would do best in a calm home with adults only. I am fixed, microchipped, up to date on all my shots, and tested negative for FIV/FELV and I am hoping to find a peaceful place with gentle loving humans to call my forever home. If you think you’d like to come and meet me to see if you’re the home I’ve been dreaming of, please submit an application online at https://petangeladoption.com/adopt-a-cat
