Phoenix's Story

Pheonix was rescued from a hoarding situation and was a very shy boy when he came to PetPromise. He was always gentle but just afraid. He loves to be out and around people but is cautious until he gets to know you.

In August 2024, Phoenix began losing weight and we couldn't figure out why.
He was always hungry and ate all of the time but he was losing weight. When we took him to the vet they determined he had an intestinal blockage. He was sent to MedVet and testing was done to determine that he had a mass in his intestines. Without biopsies and other tests, they could not determine if the mass was benign or malignant but he was going to die if something wasn't done. So the surgeon removed the mass and the part of his intestine around it. The mass came back as malignant but the surgeon felt confident that they had good clean margins and that his prognosis was good.

Since his surgery last summer, he has been doing great. He has been eating and gaining weight, happy, playing and as happy as he can be. We are so thankful he had the wonderful doctors able to perform the surgery and that he has been given not just a second chance but a third chance at life.

He is currently living in a foster home with other cats. He enjoys their company as well as the company of people (on his own terms.) If you would like to welcome Phoenix into your home to spend the rest of his third life with you, please complete an on-line Adoption Application at: https://form.jotform.com/251950332045046
