PHILO's Story

So far, 2025/26 has not been good to PHILO. He had a home with someone who loved him, but that person died. Someone took him in but decided they didn't want him and tossed him away like yesterday's garbage. Thank goodness a kind soul rescued him and him brought to the shelter. Poor PHILO had no idea what is going on! He spent the first few days in a kennel in the intake room, along with several other cats. Each kennel is covered, but PHILO could hear them and hissed every time another cat moved or meowed. He was scared and probably still freaked out from what had happened before he arrived here. He started to slowly calm down and is now happy to receive attention. A volunteer who cleans the kennels says while she cleaned his, he sat on the window ledge in the room and watched the snow fall. She also says he's a real lover and enjoyed snuggle-time with her.

PHILO has just been moved into a room where he will be in a kennel about a week to give him a bit of time to settle. Moving to a room full of roommates roaming around may be upsetting at first, but he now can see the other cats, and they will be able to come up to his kennel and introduce themselves to him. By the end of this period, he should be fine.
We have no information about how PHILO will do with dogs, cats or children. It sounds as though he was living alone with a person and no other animals, so introductions need to be slow. We will give you information about slow introductions and what to expect.

PHILLO is a handsome tiger who has gone through a lot of traumas is a short period of time, but he is young, and with a patient adopter, he should quickly regain his trust and confidence to become the best friend you've ever had.

DOB-01/2024 Entered Shelter-01/2026

If you would like to adopt PHILO, please visit the shelter during Adoption Hours, Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Saturdays, 10:00am to 1:00pm, or call 231-773-3030 for an appointment.
