Petey's Story
Name: Petey
Sex: male neutered
Breed: domestic short hair
Color: Grey tabby and white
Estimated DOB: 3/11/24

We got this little one as a kitten from Genesee animal control. He was suspended to have the wet form of feline infectious peritonitis or FIP.

We confirmed the FIP and performed treatment. He had many parasites and we have done the treatment needed. We do always recommend rechecking before introducing into your home! We found a rare form of dental malformation. All of his baby teeth were retained causing his adult teeth to turn sideways in his gum line. This was very painful. We did have to remove most of his teeth. While we were doing that we found a nasal polyp. Causing his upper respiratory symptoms!

We have him on a fiber dense food to help with intolerances caused by

He is the most friendly cat! He lives every one and everything! He would make a great cat for a special needs or someone in need of a therapy cat. We take him to the schools for our presentations and he loves to get pets and nap with anyone.

He is good with other cats and calm dogs! He loves his dry food and a very gravy like wet food. He can be picky about wet food!

Petey has had all age appropriate vaccinations, has been dewormed with a general dewormer, has been NEUTERED, microchipped, received monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and tested negative for FeLV virus.

We do recommend rechecking a fecal within 48 hours after you take any cat home, covered by us. If he is positive for any parasites, we will get you a dewormer recommended by your vet at no extra cost.

Adoption fee is $125.00. We take check, card, and cash.

You will receive a copy of the microchip form when you bring him home, and we will register it for you! In the first week, we would like to check the account to make sure we did not make any errors. After that, it will be your responsibility to keep the information accurate and up to date. This is a lifelong enrollment, and you will not have to pay towards it again. The microchip sits under the skin, between the shoulder blades. Your username will be your email address, so you will be required to have one. Once you logon to petlink.net, you can change the password to whatever you would like.

You will also receive a copy of your adoption contract, signed by you and a Pawsitive Cause board member. This contract will go over that our cats are seen by a veterinarian, have received vet care, and had their hearts listened to, but we cannot guarantee the health of any animal.

You will also receive a hand out about Upper Respiratory Infection in cats, as many animals in rescues and shelters have been previously exposed to this illness. Even if they are not showing signs of URI, the change or stress of going home can bring those symptoms on, which is why we send you home with the hand out.

We will go over a checklist to make sure that we did not miss anything. You will receive a copy of this as well. We have asked our fosters to bring some food for you to take home to transition on to what you would like them to eat. We have always offered both wet and dry food.

Petey is using litter boxes great. However, we recommend starting him out in a room with a litter box, and open more and more of the house at a time. Do not move the litter box a lot! This also helps with introductions to other animals. You should always do slow introductions under a door with a few days of no sight. Once all of the animals are calm and used to the new noises and smells, you can start offering treats at the door to both animals, then open the door and start letting them slowly mingle.

Lastly, you will receive a paper copy or email copy of all medical records we have on file. We would love it if you continued your vet care with us at Pawsitive Care, but we understand if you have a vet you love! We will try to make this transition as easy as possible.

If you think Petey would complete your family, please email us at PawsitiveCauseMI@gmail.com

Pawsitive Cause Non-Profit Animal Rescue
611 N Saginaw St
Holly, MI 48442
PawsitiveCauseMI@gmail.com
Fax: (248) 587-7622

Pawsitive Cause in a non-profit, no-kill, foster based animal rescue located in Holly, MI. Our animals are placed with fosters, where they are treated like part of the family until they find their furever homes.
Our adoption process requires an application to be completed, which you can find on our Facebook page, and then a "meet and greet" is to take place. Our animals are adopted out to the first perfect fit. Adoption fees are necessary to help cover medical costs for our rescue animals.
