Penelope's Story

Penelope was found being bullied by several kids in a dangerous area of Camden. She was luckily saved before she was seriously injured, but she was pretty traumatized nonetheless. She arrived at a crowded, open intake shelter with a severe upper respiratory infection, a major flea infestation, and a strong fear of people. We pulled her into the rescue and immediately started a medical regiment, removed the fleas and got her cleaned up. Penelope spent the first week with us being scared every time we approached and just lounging around wanting to be alone. But eventually, the meds started helping her feel better, and all the treats and cuddles started to bring her guard down. And one day, she totally opened up! She hasn’t stopped purring, playing, and loving life since then and she has blossomed into the sweetest little kitten who appreciates every kind gesture and wants to be a part of everything. She did end up with a corneal scar on her right eye that does impact her vision mildly, but it doesn’t slow her down and she will not need any long term care. She just needs a forever home to accept her as she is and provide her with the love and security she never knew early on in life. Penelope loves other kitties and every person she meets! And now she’s ready to find her happy ending! Could you be her perfect match!
